Hello friends! I am over the moon thrilled that things came together so nicely for our Black Voices Matter fundraiser! I can’t wait to see what the Kidlit community does this week to amplify Black voices and send as many Black creators as possible to the 2020 SCBWI summer spectacular! We all need to do better and be better, and this is one small way we can help. 

If you’ve ever considered a professional critique, now is an amazing time to go for it! You’ll get a great critique AND support a wonderful cause. 

This is how it will work tomorrow:

At 6AM PDT (9AM EDT), the sale will go live in MY SHOP HERE.

The critiques will be listed in the same order as they appear in the donor reveal page HERE. Because it was humanly impossible for me to figure out an online auction and I was literally going crazy over it, prices are SET and once a critique is purchased, it is GONE! (A “sold out” notice will appear on the SHOP page).

So if you have your heart 100% set on a very specific critique, make sure that you’re up and at 'em in order to snag it first. I’m hopeful that it won’t be total mayhem and I especially hope nothing sells out while you’re in the middle of tying to purchase.

Black Voices Matter Fundraiser: Critique Donors Revealed

Hi friends. If you missed my last post, let me fill you in quickly. We're hosting a massive Kidlit Critique sale in an effort to help amplify Black voices. I'm so thrilled by the commitment in publishing to do better and be better about bringing Black voices to the forefront, and I firmly believe that we can all do better. If we come together, I think we can really make a difference. 100% of the proceeds from this event will go to sending a Black author or illustrator to the 2020 SCBWI Summer Spectacular. The sale goes live on Wednesday.

Miranda Paul is an Associate Agent with the Erin Murphy Literary Agency. She holds a B.A. in English from St. Mary's College of Maryland and has worked with students (and campers) in every grade from Pre-K through college. Black Voices Matter Critique Fundraiser

I am thrilled to announce the Black Voices Matter Critique Fundraiser!

I am so encouraged by the push in publishing to do better and be better about amplifying black voices. I truly believe that we ALL need to come together in this endeavor.

Because of that, I am hosting a fundraiser here on my website to raise money to send Black Kidlit Authors and Illustrators to the 2020 SCBWI Summer Spectacular. I want to get as many Black voices as possible in front of agents and editors and learning from amazing authors and illustrators. The event this year is 100% online! So anyone can attend from anywhere. My goal is to send at least 10 Black Authors or Illustrators to the event, and I hope to be able to send many more.

Friday, I will be announcing all of the agents, editors, authors, and illustrators who are donating critiques to our fundraiser.

Monday the 22nd, the sale will go live at 6AM PDT (9AM ET). I am keeping the critiques affordable ($35-$60 for critiques from agents/authors/editors and $10-$20 for critiques from fellow aspiring authors to get a new eye on your MS) in an effort to encourage everyone to purchase a critique. 100% of the proceeds will go towards sending a Black Author or Illustrator to the SCBWI summer spectacular. In addition, any of the instant download Book Quote Printables purchased from my shop between now and June 30th will 100% go towards this fundraiser.
